Vitamin A is a proactive substance for the entire ectoderm, playing an important role in the development, protection, and regeneration of skin and mucous membranes.

A sufficiently high supply of vitamin A results in increased resistance to infectious diseases. It keeps the skin and mucous membranes healthy and works as an effective barrier against bacteria, viruses and parasites. Vitamin A influences the synthesis of important hormones in the ovaries and the adrenal cortex. It also has special importance for the growth, skeletal development, and fertility of animals. It is involved in regulating the metabolization of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. In young animals, it is particularly important for preventing growth disorders, while its epithelial protective function has great importance in older animals.

How does the application of vitamin A work?

Our vitamin A formulations contain this essential nutrient in a biologically highly active form. To ensure good stability of the powdered products (Lutavit^® A 1000 NXT, Lutavit^® A 500 Plus), the retinol is esterified, stabilizing agents and antioxidants are added. The formulations are protected against vapor, pressure, and high temperatures during feed production and storage. Vitamin A from BASF also exhibits good flowability and is resistant to lump formation.
