Lycopene

Lycopene is a carotenoid naturally contained in the human diet, particularly in red fruits and vegetables. Tomatoes and tomato-based products are the main dietary sources of lycopene. Watermelons, guava and pink grapefruits are good sources of lycopene, too.

Lycopene is a non-provitamin A carotenoid well-known for its antioxidant properties.

Its chemical structure enables lycopene to be a strong quencher of singlet oxygen, and it can act on other free radicals as well. Lycopene is recognized as one of the most potent antioxidants found in the diet.

Thereby, lycopene supports a healthy antioxidant system to defend cells and tissues against oxidative damage.

LycoVit® lycopene is a nature-identical lycopene produced by synthesis and identical to the lycopene found in nature.

Lycopene is well known and a popular antioxidant ingredient. Rising consumption of lycopene can be attributed to its applicability in an array of industries.

Lycopene is used in dietary supplements, personal care & cosmetics as well as pharmaceuticals.

It is also used in food, with soft drinks, meat substitutes and ready meals being interesting product categories.
