Carotenoids are pigments that occur naturally in plants, photosynthetic algae, fungi, and bacteria. In animals, carotenoids accumulate in tissues, providing a yellow to red color depending on the type of carotenoid.

Carotenoids are widely used in animal nutrition. For their coloring properties, they are incorporated into feeds to pigment egg yolks, broiler skin, fish flesh, and shrimp tissue. Since poultry and fish cannot synthesize carotenoids de novo, the degree of pigmentation depends entirely on the quantity of pigments consumed with the feed, as well as their bioavailability and color intensity. Lucantin^® CX 10% NXT

Lucantin^® CX 10% NXT is a citranaxanthin powder used in poultry for the pigmentation of egg yolks. Citranaxanthin provides a red color. In combination with yellow carotenoids, an intense, golden-yellow color is achieved.

Lucantin^® Red 10% NXT

Lucantin^® Red 10% NXT is a canthaxanthin powder used in poultry for the pigmentation of egg yolks and broiler skin. Canthaxanthin provides a red color. In combination with yellow carotenoids an intense, golden-yellow color is achieved.

Lucantin^® Pink CWD / NXT

Lucantin^® Pink CWD and Lucantin^® Pink NXT are astaxanthin powders used in aquaculture for pink-red pigmentation of fish and crustaceans.

Lucantin^® Yellow 10% NXT

Lucantin^® Yellow 10% NXT is a C-30 ester powder used in poultry for the pigmentation of egg yolks and broiler skin. C-30 ester provides a yellow color.

What makes our carotenoids unique solutions?

We offer four Lucantin^® powders for pigmentation in aquaculture and poultry: astaxanthin, C-30 ester, canthaxanthin and citranaxanthin. In addition, we provide Lucarotin^® beta-carotene to supplement feeds for ruminants and other animals.

Our carotenoids are beadlet powders produced with strongly protective microencapsulation technology. This enables us to deliver powders with high flowability, stability in feed production, bioavailability and performance.

What animal species do Lucantin^® and Lucarotin^® carotenoids cover?

The carotenoids C-30 ester (Lucantin^® Yellow 10% NXT ), canthaxanthin (Lucantin^® Red 10% NXT ) and citranaxanthin (Lucantin^® CX 10% NXT ) are used for pigmentation in poultry, whereas astaxanthin (Lucantin^® Pink CWD and Lucantin^® Pink NXT) is used as a pigment for fish and crustaceans. Beta-carotene (Lucarotin^® 10% Feed NXT) is a supplement in feeds for ruminants and other animals
