Iron is responsible for oxygen binding in blood cells. It is also the main ion in many enzymes and plays a central role in antioxidative processes. Lack of iron leads reduced performance.

How does the application of Iron-Glycinate work?

BASF glycinates can be dissolved directly in water and do not need to be dissolved beforehand. Since they have less potential to build complexes with phytate, a higher absorption rate by gut mucosa an even greater efficiency from supplemented phytase can be expected.

What is the maximum allowed concentration?

Maximum allowed concentrations according to EU regulations:

Maximum content of Iron in mg/kg of the complete feed or in mg/day
Ovine	500 (total¹)
Bovines and Poultry	450 (total¹)
Piglets up to one week before weaning	250 mg/day (total¹)
Pet animals	600 (total¹)
Other species	750 (total¹)

¹ The amount of inert iron is not to be taken into consideration for the calculation of the total iron content of the feed.
