Metabolic Support

Our health ingredients support metabolism, balanced blood fat levels and normal blood pressure.

According to the International Diabetes Federation, 20-25% of the world’s adult population combine several risk factors that may lead to metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome is a combination of insulin resistance, high blood pressure, imbalanced blood fat levels and obesity. It is a multiplex risk factor of cardiovascular disease, stroke, fatty liver and several types of cancer and other chronic diseases – but it is also highly preventable.

The main influencing factors are diet, lifestyle and genetics, and certain nutrients play a vital role in prevention.

We focus on improving health by providing the right nutrients to the right people at the right time.

Our premium ingredients to support metabolic health include Pronova Pure® omega-3 oils, Vegapure® phytosterols, the antioxidants Covitol, vitamin E, lycopene, astaxanthin, and vitamin D.

Boosting Metabolic Health

Metabolic syndrome is a chronic condition that increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, progressive fatty liver disease, erectile dysfunction and more.

There are various definitions of metabolic syndrome, but the dominant condition is central obesity, also known as visceral adiposity, accompanied by high blood pressure, high triglyceride and LDL-levels, low HDL concentrations, and prediabetes.

Individual genetics are a contributing factor but, mostly, we just eat too much of an unbalanced diet and move too little: a disproportion between energy intake and output. This leads to progressive mitochondrial dysfunction, fat deposition and insulin resistance. Nutrition and lifestyle changes, however, can delay or even reverse the development of serious health problems.

Our ingredients support the metabolic system and may reduce many conditions that are related to the development of metabolic syndrome.

These Nutrients are essential for Metabolic Support

  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Dietary eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid (EPA and DHA) supplementation has been shown to lower elevated plasma triglycerides, to have anti-inflammatory effects and to lower blood pressure. As such, they have well-established protective functions in cardiovascular health. Backed by many scientific studies, health organizations recommend an appropriate intake to lower metabolic syndrome risk factors.
  • Phytosterols: Phytosterols support blood lipid management by lowering LDL-cholesterol levels and reducing plasma triglycerides. They are effective and contribute to overall heart health. The risk of cardiovascular diseases is a hallmark of metabolic syndrome, so maintaining healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels is of critical importance.
  • Vitamin D: Vitamin D regulates cellular information flow and contributes to healthy carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. Suboptimal vitamin D levels in the blood are associated with type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.
  • Vitamin E: Oxidative stress is considered to be a major contributor to metabolic syndrome. Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant that helps to prevent oxidative damage in the cell membranes and protects LDL particles in blood plasma. It also supports the maintenance of cell membrane fluidity and signaling.
  • Carotenoids: As two of the strongest fat-soluble antioxidants in our diet, lycopene and astaxanthin have been associated with the prevention of type 2 diabetes, chronic inflammatory conditions, obesity and metabolic syndrome.
